SCENARIOS: Meet the Collective and Music Label formed by Emanuel Satie, Maga, Sean Doron and Tim Engelhart

SCENARIOS is an internationally celebrated record label and collective formed by the four individual artists: Emanuel Satie, Maga, Sean Doron and Tim Engelhart.

The collective creates and plays an “unique genre of music and offers an unparalleled event experience that characterizes their novel approach to the world of music and events”, according to the members of the group.

With very successful debut showcase events that have been spreading across places like Tel Aviv, Los Angeles, Lisbon and soon in London, New York, Costa Rica, Tokyo, Bali and many more, SCENARIOS was established in April 2022 as an all-encompassing artist collective, label and events brand, with an intelligent, exquisitely crafted productions and instantly recognisable sound palette.

The team has become known by their unique underground energy and standout live performances, a deep and melodic sound that is as organic and ethereal as it is experimental.

We caught up with them days before the unveiling of their new single called ‘Side By Side’, a release that sees the four Scenarios artists add to the label’s flourishing catalogue with yet another seismic dancefloor weapon, produced by the founding crew members. Read on to learn more!

Emanuel Satie, born in Frankfurt and now based in Lisbon, is a man on a mission. Following a stellar breakthrough year in 2016 with a #1 and #2 on Beatport, winning the “Best Producer Award“ at the Ibiza DJ Awards and several tracks in the Resident Advisor most charted tracks lists, he’s been on the march ever since.

In 2018 his summer anthem “Don’t Forget To Go Home“ was unquestionably one of the tracks of the Ibiza season and beyond, played all summer by the likes of Sven Väth, Pete Tong and DJ Koze. A collaboration with Pete Tong and releases on Sven Väth’s Cocoon Recordings and Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels followed in the years after, which again received heavy DJ support all summer long from the likes of Sven Väth, Dixon, Âme, Patrice Baumel, &ME and many more. Following that Sven would welcome him into the Cocoon family in a more concrete way by signing him to ‘Cocoon Artists’.

2022 was one of the busiest years to date with Emanuel touring the whole world and founding his own label Scenarios together with Maga, Tim Engelhardt and Sean Doron. The label is growing faster than expected, landing several tracks in the Beatport charts and receiving support from some major players in the scene. On the event side, the Scenarios showcases have found great success already in Los Angeles, Tel Aviv, Lisbon and soon in London, New York, Costa Rica, Tokyo, Bali and many more.

2023 will see Emanuel releasing remixes for A-Trak & Lee Foss, Luciano & Michel Cleis, more music on Scenarios, and the launch of his own imprint Solaris. As a DJ he’s just as impressive, with his sets known to be journeys that engage, entertain and push the envelope in equal measure.

Having played some of the world’s most respected clubs and festivals including Amnesia, Space, Fabric, Pacha, Watergate, D-Edge and more is testament to that.

Maga is a music producer & DJ born in Nice, France. Having recently relocated to the magnificent city of Lisbon, where he has opened up a brand new studio at Som de Lisboa, Maga’s career actually began in Cape Town, where at first he was on the other side of the DJ booth, as owner a nightclub for few years.

After being so close to music on a daily basis, Maga began to realize how much the music touched him and that there must be more to this than simply an emotion. He rapidly took several residencies around the world, at iconic venues including Scorpios, Blue Marlin and El Chiringuito and during this time he dedicated his efforts into finding his own true sounds and developing his print works.

He first single release “Destinesia” came on the infamous Mexican label Akumandra. Soon enough, Maga was working on polishing and designing a stronger production which lead him to release his first EP in the same year, “Regata” on the French label Voyeur Music.

Following these early releases, Maga took his first adventure to Burning Man where his career took a massive turn and he was placed firmly on the map. Since then, he hasn’t stopped travelling the globe to seduce new crowds and spread his love of music.

In 2020, Maga decided to give back to the community by creating a foundation called “Children Of The Future” which continues to support an orphanage of 60 children in Mexico City. He started this fundraiser to help kids in one of the poorest areas of Mexico City and to give them a shouting chance at life. From this, a non-profit foundation music label was born and the very first VA Compilation came out including tracks from 47 artists from around the world.

To this day, Maga continues to surprise audiences around the world with his new projects and productions. His debut album “Resona” was released in early 2022, a composition of 7 tracks that surround a jazz base with influence and live instrumentation from Central and Latin America. He also released productions on Audiofly’s label, Flying Circus, and Anja Schneider’s Sous Music.

In April 2022, Maga launched his very own label and artist collective, SCENARIOS, alongside with Emanuel Satie, Tim Engelhardt, and Sean Doron. Over the past nine months, SCENARIOS has dropped five huge label releases and has produced successful showcase events in Los Angeles, Lisbon and Tel Aviv.

Born in Tel Aviv, Sean Doron is one of the biggest names in the Israeli electronic music scene and has been for the last ten years.

Over those years, he has been playing non stop, has founded the much loved series of Monochrome events and has released his music productions on top record labels around the globe including Rebellion / Crosstown Rebels of Damian Lazarus, Flying Circus of Audiofly, and Kerri Chanderl’s Madtech amongst others.

Having enjoyed summer residencies at Rumors Ibiza, he’s now playing for Woomoon Ibiza, Mayan Warrior, The Bow Buenos Aires and top festivals such as EDC, DGTL, Balaton Sound and more.

His tracks have been supported heavily by the likes of Solomun, Black Coffee, Marco Carola, Damian Lazarus, Sasha, John Digweed and he has played alongside huge artists including Dixon, Âme, Guy Gerber, Sven Vath, Monolink, Stephan Bodzin and Bob Moses to name a few.

Most recently, Sean has been integral in the launch of SCENARIOS - a record label, artist collective and event series that he set up with Maga in 2022, together with Emanuel Satie and Tim Engelhardt.

The tracks released over the past year have hit all top charts on Beatport, Spotify and landed him on virtually every leading electronic music magazine.

One of Cologne’s youngest and brightest electronic music stars, Tim Engelhardt didn’t gatecrash the scene out of leftfield, but started his path to connoissseurship fairly early on: trying to rewrite the piano pieces he had to practice as a kid.

At the tender age of eight, he showed an independent creative mind from the get-go–a character trait that would prove extremely helpful for a subsequent career as electronic music producer. But it was only when Tim later discovered the releases of Cologne techno luminary Robert Babicz that synthesisers and bass drums moved into focus – a brilliant producer, live performer and mastering engineer with a keen sense for sonic detail, Babicz became the perfect role model for young Tim, inspiring our hero to seek out his own place in electronic music while honing a concise understanding for all facets of production.

Part of a diverse new breed of young producers that get their cues from all sorts of genres and listening situations, Tim still stands apart, having released his very first record when he was just 14 years old. Combining profound musical knowledge with intuitive playfulness, his solo pianist background becomes rather obvious in the great care he takes over harmonies and their expansive melodic structure.

Pair that with the organic fluidity and atmospheric dexterity of his music and you’ve got your self a winning recipe. Consequently, Tim has grown his portfolio with plenty of outings on label such as Cityfox, Anjunadeep, Watergate, Fryhide, Innervisions and Diynamic, plus his 2017 debut album “Moments Of Truth“ on Steve Bug’s iconic Poker Flat Recordings and remixes for artists like Compuphonic, John Digweed and Marmion’s Trance Classic “Schoneberg”.

Underscored by a torrent of remix and release offerings, Tim’s busy schedule is testament to his growing popularity among electronic music fans – with multiple tours in the US, Australia and India having already been checked off his bucket list.

Meanwhile, inspiration for Tim’s personal brand of melodic house and techno comes from many sources: childhood memories of Mike Oldfield’ s “Tubular Bells “ playing in his dad’ s car, a walk in nature, or simply mining his synths for happy accidents.

Gear, however, is only a means to an end for Tim: rather than drooling over hardware, he celebrates art with a distinct personality – art that carries a piece of its creator inside; to find the most powerful expression for the sounds in his head.

That’s his mission... which is why Tim’s music sounds nothing like your run-of-the-mill, straight-to-DJ floor chow, but subtly turns heads with a cohesive, fully-formed musical vision that shines in both the club and at home.

Can you guys share with the brazilian crowds the collective story?

SCENARIOS is a collective of four individual artists who represent the moment. The participating artists include Emanuel Satie, Maga, Sean Doron & Tim Engelhart.

The collective creates and implements a unique genre of music and offers an unparalleled event experience that characterizes our novel approach to the world of music and events.

Our goal is to give our collective a distinctive feel, while playing the music on our label. Our events offer a different approach to experiencing a night out.

This is clearly showcased in our lively and detailed aesthetic; in branding and visual language, releases, event invitations and the scenery and design of the events themselves.

Together, we are united in our shared beliefs, dynamic and outlook. We represent a new generation of artists that functions as a whole while still maintaining our individuality.

In this way, we can truly grow as one.

What music best fit the label?

Our sound can be defined mainly as house music combined with melodic pattern & techno rhythm, however we are staying true to each artist’s flair in order to keep creativity and make music that sounds timeless and eclectic.

What are the plans for SCENARIOS for 2023 and beyond?

There are many releases in the pipeline. You are looking at around 7 new releases in 2023.

There are a lot of very exciting records that we are fine tuning at the moment. Some of them we are already pushing on the dance floor to test them out and get the people out there to slowly recognise them.

2023 is going be the year of the SCENARIOS showcases, with many new events already confirmed all over the world.

Can share some info about about SCENARIOS touring & events?

We are having few interesting SCENARIOS events this year in Japan, Bali, Paris, USA and much more that we can’t say right now.

Last: any insights and tips for the artists trying to figure out to to stand out?

1. Stay motivated and persistent. Building a career in electronic music takes time and hard work, but don’t give up. If you’re passionate and dedicated, you’ll eventually be rewarded.

2. Network. Reach out to people in the industry and build relationships with them.

3. Build your brand. Develop a unique visual style and brand identity to help you stand out from the crowd.

4. Collaborating with other electronic music artists is another great way to stand out. By working together, you can create something truly unique and memorable.

5. Take risks, be creative, and don’t be afraid to stand out.
